What to Do If The Police Want to Talk to You in Charlotte, NC

As part of our criminal law practice, we receive calls all the time from people that have been contacted by a law enforcement officer that wants to “talk” to them about a criminal investigation.  The investigator will often tell someone that “they just want to get their side of the story.”

The best advice is to contact a criminal defense attorney near you that has experience handling your kind of case, and have the attorney speak with the investigator on your behalf.   Most investigators will understand that you wish to consult with an attorney prior to meeting with them.
