In-Home Health Aide Sees Theft Charges Dismissed

On behalf of Randall & Stump, PLLC in on Friday, February 14, 2020

Our client was an in-home health care worker employed by a family to care for the seriously ill son. During the course of her employment, the parents accused her of stealing money from their house and supplied video evidence. However, the video was of such low quality that no determination could be made if anything was taken at all.

The woman continued working for the family, but the family made another theft accusation when some other items went missing. Charges were filed against the woman and she was suddenly facing the loss of her job and criminal penalties.

Our attorneys reviewed the case and quickly pointed out the clear lack of evidence against our client. We also requested several items that were never produced. By presenting an argument that the entire theft case was based on a rift between the family and our client, we eventually negotiated to have the case dismissed. This preserved our client’s livelihood and kept a damaging theft conviction off of a healthcare worker’s record.

The outcome of an individual case depends on a variety of factors unique to that case. Case results do not guarantee or predict a similar result in any similar or future case.
