Discharging a Firearm Dismissed at First Court Date

On behalf of Randall & Stump, PLLC in on Friday, March 6, 2020

Our client was a security guard, and one day after work, he was cleaning his weapon when it accidentally went off. A round went through his wall and into his neighbor’s apartment. This led to him being charged with discharging a firearm in an occupied structure.

Since a firearm conviction would assuredly result in our client losing his job in addition to possible jail time, we acted fast to protect him. By laying out his long history of gun safety and arguing that a single mistake shouldn’t destroy his life, we negotiated to have the charge dismissed at the first court appearance.

The outcome of an individual case depends on a variety of factors unique to that case. Case results do not guarantee or predict a similar result in any similar or future case.
