Resisting Arrest Charged Dismissed after Traffic Stop

On behalf of Randall & Stump, PLLC in on Friday, December 13, 2019

Our client was stopped for speeding, and at first, the young man could not find his license. Believing that his information had fallen out of his pocket, he exited the car to check the space between the seats. The police directed him to get back into the car, but apparently he did not heed their warnings fast enough. This led to a physical altercation with the officers, where our client was body-slammed on to the ground and charges for resisting arrest and speeding.

This incident jeopardized the young man’s entire future and exposed him to up to 150 days in custody. Our attorneys worked hard to show that it was all an unfortunate misunderstanding. We reviewed the officer’s body can footage, which completely contradicted the officer’s claims that our client was the aggressor. Once the prosecutor saw that footage, all the charges were dismissed, and our client was free to resume his life.

The outcome of an individual case depends on a variety of factors unique to that case. Case results do not guarantee or predict a similar result in any similar or future case.
