Man Gets Mental Health Treatment & Trespassing Charge Dismissed

Not long ago, a young man in Charlotte was charged with second-degree trespassing after losing his job and initially refusing to leave a job recruiter’s office. Despite a well-documented history of mental illness, this offense exposed him to the possibility of up to 20 days in jail.

We knew immediately that this young man would not the help he needed in custody, Therefore, we acted fast to get him appropriate mental health care. Once he was admitted into a mental health facility, we explained the situation to the prosecutor and negotiated to have the criminal charges dismissed.
