Dismissal for Army Officer Charged with Accidentally Firing Weapon

On behalf of Randall & Stump, PLLC in on Friday, February 8, 2019

An army officer was in town with a friend. When they went to leave a local Charlotte bar, his friend planned to drive the client’s car home. Our client went into his glove box to pull out a cell phone, which is also where he kept a firearm. Unfortunately, a mishap with the tripper ended with accidentally firing off a round in the car. The police, who were already in the crowded parking facility ran over and charged him with discharging a firearm in city limits.

This exposed him to significant penalties, not least among them was the consequences to his military career and ability to own a weapon. Our Charlotte gun lawyers attempted to explain the situation to all those involved, and due to their perseverance, the case against this military officer was completely dismissed.

The outcome of an individual case depends on a variety of factors unique to that case. Case results do not guarantee or predict a similar result in any similar or future case.
